(If you're handicap falls in the higher range up to 28 and you are interested in senior’s handicap competitions, then please contact Bob Lowin, Interclub Competitions Secretary – contact details can be found at the end of this article.)
Cambridgeshire Seniors play in the Anglian League and also the Midland League, as well as having a number of freindly matches against Suffolk & Essex.
Our fixtures run from March to October each year, and details of this year’s matches can be found on the right under the fixtures tab on the Seniors Golf menu.
In October, we have the usualy very well attended Seniors Autumn Meeting competing for the John Durman Handicap Trophy. There are both scratch and handicap prizes for this event.
Both the Spring and Autumn CAGU seniors competitions are very informal and very enjoyable days out with your fellow seniors.
The Seniors County Championship is an 18-hole event held in late June or early July. Entry is online via the CAGU website. At this Championship, their are a number of scratch and handicap prizes as well as four Age Category prizes.
We also compete in England Golf’s Southern Foursomes, where we play a qualifying event against our neighbours Norfolk, Suffolk, and Bedfordshire, which is played over 36 holes of foursomes in one day. In 2017, 2019, and 2023, we reached the final. The other main aim is to win the EGU Midland Seniors Qualifier. This is a 36-hole stroke play event held over one day with a six-man team, competing against nine other Midland Counties. The winning County on the day then represents the Midland region in the English County Finals, which is probably the most prestigious competition for county players and counties to be involved in
Cambridgeshire Seniors run a CAGU Seniors Order of Merit, to join this competition please fill in the form at the bottom of the page.
Players who represent the Country are able to purchase kit at a discounted rate consisting of a shirt, sweater, wind top, blazer and County tie.
